Raider Singers is our beginning choir with over 45 students spanning grades 9-12 from all different levels of musical background. This class focuses on acquiring basic music literacy and developing healthy vocal production and choral tone. We also work on broadening our understanding and appreciation for all different styles of music and for many different cultures and languages. This class serves as preparation for entrance into our auditioned choirs. Harmony Chorus is our intermediate choir with 21 students spanning grades 9-12. Students auditioned in the spring of the previous year to be in Harmony Chorus. This class focuses on further music literacy skills and building a more complete understanding of healthy vocal production and choral tone. As with all the choirs at LDHS, we also work on broadening our understanding and appreciation for all different styles of music and for many different cultures and languages. This class serves as preparation for entrance into our advanced ensemble, Concert Choir. Concert Choir is our advanced chorus consisting of both men and women’s voices. Students are expected to complete one year of high school chorus and to audition in the spring to be accepted in this ensemble. Students in this choir span grades 10-12. Because this is an advanced ensemble, the course is designed to further develop music literacy and sight-singing skills, personal vocal training, and a deeper understand of music theory. As with all the choirs at LDHS , we also strive to broaden our understanding and appreciation for all different styles of music and for many different cultures and languages. Performances for this choir take place in the school and in the community. |
