Released Time Program

The Hickory Tavern Ministerial Assoc. is preparing for the new school year for the Released Time Education Program. Classes will be conducted during the course of the normal school day at a time set aside by the school officials that will not interfere with any academic instruction. Students will be transported to the Community Chapel Church and will be taught by volunteer teachers from churches within the Hickory Tavern Community. The Released Time Program meets all constitutional requirements and offers a curriculum of basic Biblical knkowledge and Christian principles for living.
The Released Time Christian Education Program is guided and directed by the Hickory Tavern Ministerial Association, and is in no way affiliated with the Laurens School District or Hickory Tavern School. The Hickory Tavern Ministerial Association is composed of pastors and laypersons from the community churches. The Released Time Program is an alternative instruction period and is solely voluntary.
The Released Time goal is to include all students interested in Christian education. However, acceptance into the program will be dependent on your child's Standard Test scores. The school faculty has the right to disallow your child's participation if their grades are not up to standard. In the event of having more students than we can accomodate, acceptance will be based on first come, first serve basis. Released Time hopes to help counteract the declining moral standards in our society and place an emphasis on respect for life, which will hopefully result in a decrease in violence.
