Students in South Carolina public schools enjoy the same basic rights of United States citizenship as do other United States citizens.  Students also share the responsibility to respect the rights of others.  The district aims its discipline practices toward perfection of permanent values which will be the frame of reference for future behavior.

While the District Discipline Guide, Grades K-5; the District Discipline Guide, Grades 6-8; and the Student Code of Conduct, Grades 9-12 outline violations and consequences, there are, at times, problems which, because they affect the learning opportunities of other children, require administrators to take rapid deterrent action.  In such cases, the administration is authorized to take reasonable disciplinary action in line with state laws and regulations and not otherwise contrary to the policies of the school board.
