Laurens District 55 High School (LDHS) will administer End-of-Course Examination Program (EOCEP) tests in the following courses on May 18, May 19, May 24, and May 25 in Algebra 1, Biology 1, English 1, Math for the Technologies 2, Physical Science, and United States History. An EOCEP score accounts for 20% of the student's final grade in these courses. Students may use their calculators on the Algebra 1/Math for Technologies 2 and the Physical Science EOCEP tests, but they must be willing to have their calculators' memories cleared both before and after testing. LDHS does not provide calculators for every student, so students are encouraged to bring and use calculators with which they are already familiar. Parents and students are respectfully asked not to schedule medical and dental appointments or other out-of-school functions during testing hours. It is very important that students are not only present, but they are on time to their testing locations. Once testing begins, students will not be allowed to sign out early except in extreme emergencies. At LDHS, EOCEP tests are scheduled for 2 hours and 5 minutes; however, the tests are untimed. If a student has not completed his test within the allotted time, and he is not actively working on items and is not attempting to finish, the school has the discretion to end that student's testing session. Any student who has not completed his test, but who is still actively working and attempting to finish, will be moved to the Lecture Theater to complete his test. Students are not allowed to bring the following into testing locations: cell phones, PDAs, "talking" calculators, cameras, or any electronic device that can be used for communicating, timing, or imaging. Parents are asked to remind students not to bring these items into their testing locations.
