Title I Planning Committee

On Wednesday, October 20, 2010, the School Improvement Council/Title I Planning Committee met at 3:30 in Mr. Adams’s office. The following members were present: Adams, Owens,
Mrs. Kellett, chairperson for Gray Court- Owings Elementary SIC/Title I Planning Committee, welcomed everyone to the meeting and then focused everyone’s attention on the agenda. The meeting went forward accordingly.
Mrs. Kellett discussed the purpose and duties of the SIC/Title 1 Planning Committee with the group and asked the group if anyone had any questions.
Mrs. Kellett also gave an overview of the By Laws. Then she asked the committee members if they had any questions.
Mrs. Kellett gave out the handbooks and asked each member to turn to page 13 of the handbook. Each committee member took time to look at the handbook and answer the Profile Statements found on pages 13-17 of the handbook. After everyone was finished, the group went over the answers together.
Mr. Adams updated everyone on the AdvancED Accreditation Process. Everyone reviewed the summary version of the School Renewal Plan that was printed on the back of the agenda. He also discussed the importance of our district’s Vision and Mission statements. The Accreditation Team will be visiting our district on November 9th. Mr. Adams also presented the team with some sample questions that could be asked during the Accreditation Team visit.
Mrs. Burton discussed some upcoming events with the group. She mentioned that Parent Night was tentatively scheduled for November 11th. She also made the group aware of the upcoming Trunk or Treat event that is being managed by PTO. The event is scheduled for October 28th.
Mr. Adams updated the group on our business partnership with Vulcan Materials and their latest donation to our school.
Mrs. Kellett reminded the group of the next meeting date for SIC/Title I.
No further business was discussed and the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting has been scheduled for November 17.
