Who is Coach Howell?
Adam Howell is the current strength and conditioning coach here at Laurens District 55 High School for all athletes. Prior to joining the Raider Staff, Coach Howell acted as Strength and Conditioning Coach at Lamar High School, assisting in the year round training of athletes. Through his training, Lamar won 3 consecutive state championships in football, 4 state championships in track and field (3 boys, 1 girls) and 1 state championship in baseball. In addition to strength and conditioning, Coach Howell coached football, basketball and softball As a power lifting coach, Coach Howell helped train two World Champions, one of which holds world records in the bench press and the squat. Coach Howell is also an elite level power lifter in both the 308# and the Super Heavy Weight Class. His best lifts are a 1035# squat, 725# bench press and 700# deadlift. Currently Coach Howell holds the state record for South Carolina in the bench press and still competes in local and national bench press competitions. Coach Howell is also a competitor in the Highland Games, currently as an amateur and ranked 5th nationally , but seeking Pro certification. Coach Howell is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Physical Education and holds a Masters of Education Administration Degree from Grand Canyon University in Arizona. |
