Michael A. (Andy) Entrekin

Andy Entrekin is a native of Laurens County. After graduating from Clinton High School in 1992, he attended the University of South Carolina, receiving his Bachelor of Music degree in 1996. While at USC, Andy was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi, the Marching, Pep, Concert and Jazz Bands. Upon graduation, Mr. Entrekin served as interim Band Director at Hillcrest High School in Simpsonville, SC before joining the staff of Spartanburg District Six as Director at Fairforest Middle School and as Assistant Band Director at Paul M. Dorman High School. Mr. Entrekin worked with the award-winning Marching Cavaliers and was director of the Dorman Jazz Ensemble. Mr. Entrekin returned to Laurens County in 1999. He served as Director of Bands at Gray Court-Owings Middle School and Hickory Tavern Middle School and as Assistant Band Director at Laurens District 55 High School for 8 years. In 2004, Mr. Entrekin was selected as Teacher of the Year for Hickory Tavern Middle School. In 2006, Mr. Entrekin accepted the position of Director of Bands at Laurens District 55 High School following in the footsteps of current LDHS Assistant Principal, David C. Mauldin. Since then, the group has continued its reputation of successful field and stage performances. In addition to his classroom activities, Mr. Entrekin serves as a music arranger and visual designer for local high school marching bands. Mr. "E" is the designer for the State Champion Ninety-Six High School Band. He is a member of MENC, SCMEA and SCBDA and has served on the SCBDA Marching Band Committee. Andy and his wife Melissa, a Certified Veterinary Technician, currently reside in Clinton, SC with their three children - John Michael, Anna Grace and Mark Thomas.........and the wife's animals. |
